A wedge of mass M lies on a smooth fixed wedge of inclinaion θ. A particle of mass m lies on the wedge of mass M (please refer in the figure attached). All surfaces are frictionless and the distance of the block from the fixed wedge is l.Find

Normal reaction between M and m

the time after which the particle hits the fixed plane

I will try to give you a direction to proceed.

Say M slides down with acc. a.

Considering M as observer forces on m are mg, N and ma (pseudo parallel to incline).

masinθ+N=mg

Considering ground as observer forces on M are Mg, N and reaction force due to fixed wedge.

Mgsinθ+Nsinθ=Ma

Can you try to proceed further.. you can of course post further if you get stuck.
