Physics/Simple Harmonic Motion/Forced Oscillations and Resonance

by Asif Zafar -

A 1000 kg car carrying four 82kg people travels over a rough "washboard" dirt road with corrugations 4.0m apart, which cause the car to bounce on its spring suspension. The car bounces with maximum amplitude when its speed is 16km/h. The car now stops, and the four people get out. By how much does the car body rise on its suspension owing to decrease in mass?

The Question is the last prob asked in the chapter of SHM in HRW 6th edition

Mass of the moon is 1/80 of that of earth and its radius is 1/4 of that of earth.What will be the g on surface of moon as compared with surface of earth?

Integration:One Question Two ans

by Shashank Todwal -

I fully understand that we can't have two ans in mathematics.But I have got it.So plz tell me where I am wrong.

NOTE: As I did not get special character for integration so I have used § symbol for integration sign.

I=§xcos3x2sinx2dx= ?

Solution1 :

let sinx2 =t

dt/dx=cosx2*2x

I=§(1/2)cos2x2dt

=1/2§(1-t2)dt

=1/2(sinx2-sin3x2/3)---------Ans.

Solution 2:

let cosx2=t

dt/dx=-sinx22x

I=§(-1/2)t3dt

=(-1/8)cos4x2----------------Ans

I even checked putting some value for x2 in both the ans.They aren't the same.PLz help

Circular Motion or /Laws of Motion

by Purva Rawat -

Please clear my this some simple doubt.

If a particle is placed on a ceiling fan then which resultant force will provide the centripetal force? If it is reaction force then it will act towards the center . Please explain that who will provide this and how will the reaction force will act towards the center?

GRAVITATION IMPRACTICAL QU.

by Sohil Jain -

What is the cause of rotation of earth on its axis ?

What is the cause of gravitation by any particle?

The region around the earth is space,so if we go straight downwards in the space where will we reach?what is there at the end of the space?

Consider a mass moving with velocity vradius r0 on a table top by holding a string attached to the mass and passing through the centre of the table into my hand below the table.

Suppose I decrease radius to r then what is the value of final velocity v?

1)Is it given using Thand=mv2/r=mv02r0 or using

2)torque ext =0    =>angular momentum conserved   =>mv0r0=mvr or using

3)work-energy theorem   =>  Thand(r0-r)=1/2m(v2-v02)

Plz answer my doubt.
