i have a simple question.

Does para-benzo-quinone show tautomerism?

Ankita,
Para-Benzo-quinone is most favourable for tautomerism. See the " = C-C=O " bond favourable for tautomerism.

Hi

I saw your query p-benzo quinone cannot show tautomerism as bezene has no alpha -H to lose and folm keto-enol tautomerism(Destrotropism).

I got the ans. Para-Benzo Quinone doesn't shows tautomerism. It is not that it doesn't has alpha Hydrogen, but if enol form is made by shifting the alpha H to C=O to make =C=C-OH, cumulated diene will be formed which is too unstable. Thus, the enol form doesn't exist as it is.
