A particle moves in a circular path with decreasing speed. Choose the correct statement.

a) Angular momentum remains constant

b) Acceleration is acting towards the centre

c) Particle moves in a spiral path with decreasing radius

d) The direction of angular momentum remains constant.

The answer is given as c). Kindly explain how it is c.

As speed decreases, radius decreases (assuming the force providing centripetal force does not change) as centripetal force is \(\frac{{m{v^2}}}{r}\). If speed keeps on decreasing, so does the radius.
