A block of weight 100 N is slowly slid up on a smooth incline of inclination 370 by a person. Calculate the work done by the person in moving the block through a distance of 2 m, if the driving force is a) parallel to the incline and b) in the horizontal direction.

Ans : a) 120J   b)120J. Please explain how to solve this question.

Force(F)= mgsin theta

and theta=37degree

therefore,

                    F=mgsin37degree

                      =100x\( \frac{3}{5} \) = 60N

a) so work done when force is parallel to incline

            w= Fscostheta

              = 60x2xcos0degree

               = 120J

b) horizontal dictance will be:  ssintheta = 2x3/5 = 1.2m

                 w=mgh

                 = 100x1.2

                 = 120J
