Does [  ] mean G.I.F. here? If so, then consider two cases:

a) x is integer = I

This means that I²-2-2I=0

(I-1)²=3 but that is not possible for an integer. No solution in this case.

b) x = Integer + Fraction

x²=2(1+[x]) = even

x = even but that is not possible for integer + fraction. No solution in this case too .
