The number of terms of an A.P. is even; the sum of odd terms is 24, of the even terms is 30, and the last term exceeds the first by 10\frac{1}{2}, find the number of terms and the series.

Thank You!

Let the total no. of terms = 2n; common diff. = d

Given,

24 = n/2 [ 2a + (n-1)(2d) ]

30 = n/2 [ 2(a+d) + (n-1)(2d) ]

a + (2n-1)d = a + 10.5

On solving these eq. we get ;

a=1.5  ;  n=4 ; thus, 2n = 8 ;  d=1.5

So the series is = 1.5, 3, 4.5...

No. of terms in the series is 8
first term=3/2
common difference=3/2
hence ,
series = 3/2 , 3 , 9/2 , 6 , 15/2 , 9 , 21/2 , 12/span>
