Stress

Strain

When a body is subjected to an external force,the force per unit area is called "stress".Thus,

Stress = force/area

Stress is measured in Newton/metre2 in S.I or M.K.S system.Pascal is also a unit of stress.The dimensional formula of stress is [M L-1T -2]

When deforming forces act on a body,the body undergoes a change in its shape or size or dimensions.Strain is the fractional deformation produced when it is subjected to a set of deforming forces.Strain is a ratio.So it has no units.
