A uniform rod of mass m and length 2l lies on smooth horizontal surface. A particle of same mass m is connected to string of length l whose other end is connected to rod. Initially, string is taut and both string and rod lie in the same horizontal plane with angle 900 between them. If particle is given initial velocity vo perpendicular to string, then just after giving velocity v0 to particle, find (a) linear acceleration of center of mass of rod, (b) angular acceleration of rod (c)tension in string (d) angular velocity of rod.
The answer for part (c) : Tension = mv02/5l

A bullet is fired with some velocity from bottom of a tall building, at the same time a wooden block is dropped from top of the building. The bullet gets embedded in the wooden block and the block moves up.
In this problem, can we apply conservation of linear momentum to find the velocity of the block after impact? Because net external is force acting on the bullet and block system.
I sovled this problem by applying CLM, and got the answer. But its nt convincing me.
Q - The inversion of cane sugar proceeds with a constant half life of 500 minutes at pH = 5 for any concentration of sugar when pH is changed to 4, the half life becomes 50 minutes. Deduce the rate law expression for inversion of sugar.
